Introduction
fishHook Publications & Photography was established in 2013 by Chris Paulin and specialises in natural history writing and photography.
Chris Paulin's experience with natural history and ethnological museum collections includes 37 years as a marine biology curator at the National Museum of New Zealand (Te Papa Tongarewa), where his research ranged from the taxonomy of New Zealand fishes to traditional Mäori fish-hooks and customary fishing techniques.
The results of these studies have been published in over 60 scientific papers, including descriptions of 17 fish species new to science. Chris has also published ten books on fish identification, Fiordland marine biota, the intertidal biota, as well as traditional fishhooks and fishing, and commercial fishing.
